Strait Drive

The event Strait Drive was conducted on 28th August 2025, from 15:30 hrs to 16:30 hrs, at the 4th Deck, Chart Room, Coimbatore Marine College. It featured presentations by B.Sc. 1st Year cadets on “Straits & Canals”, focusing on their historical importance, navigational aspects, role in global trade, pilotage, currents, and their contribution to economic growth. The cadets presented detailed PPTs on the Panama Canal, Suez Canal, and Strait of Gibraltar, showcasing their significance in global maritime navigation. We were privileged to be joined by our esteemed guest, Captain Sunil Balagopal, whose presence added immense value and motivated the cadets. The program was a great success, fostering awareness about the importance of straits and canals in maritime history and modern navigation, while also encouraging cadets to enhance their knowledge and presentation skills.
